Hit detection / registration issues

Hey,

I run 5 servers on a windows 2008 dedicated server. I have recently updated my servers to the new dev branch 983 from 2055. After the update players started complaining about the shots registration begin off on the server. Is there anything I can do to help debug the issue? Or has anyone had the same or similar issue after they updated?

If you come across this issue on your own server

set g_antilag 0

and let me know if it still fails so bad.

Does it happen after a specific connected duration?

Does it happen after a specific server up-time?

I thought it was my machine problem had to upgrade it...

Im using NE too and hitreg with scope is so weird.

Tired with g_antilag 0 and seems to be an issue still. As far as I know people started to complain after we switched from 2055 to 983. I have the server to automatically restart everyday to rule out that factor and it has not helped.

At first I though it was hardware too. (i7 4790K, 16GB Ram and 256GB SDD). But I run other servers on the machine and it's only the cod4 that people complain about.

Up, I was facing this issue also. Let us know if this bin fixed, then create a pull request.

Processor with a high load, with one server. If there are more servers? This is a putative reason.

I am not so sure about that one. However I really hope you are right. Anyway the bug should be fixed on official github. Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.

Hey Fraggy,

Does this fix also apply to us windows guys. Since I seen the commits were pointed to unix.

on debian/ubuntu: sudo apt install gcc-multilib g++-multilib will sort your problem out.

Nope, this bug was Linux only. If you have issues then they come from another source. On Linux it does emulate the Win32 API and here was a defect. But on Windows you have native Win32 API.

As you have Windows, it looks like this bugfix does not fix hitreg then.

CoD4 linux binary with hitbox/bullet debugging.

How to use it:

Add to servers commandline this option:

+set cvar_cheats 1

 

Once map is loaded insert into server console or rcon:

g_debugBullets 2

2 = bullets & box

1 = only bullets

g_debugBullets has to be enabled after every new map or fastrestart again.

 

 

Attached only Linux, for Windows you need to compile github source.

To view the debug stuff you have to enter into your gameclient console: developer 1

 

Make high framerate video when it fails with the box enabled.

Best used on Hardcore servers so we can get a clear view without hitmarker obscuring everything and 1 shot means 1 kill with most weapons.

 

Use only when you are active on the server and recording.

 

And before someone asks, cvar_cheats only makes server be able to use cheat protected dvars, clients will not be able to use cheats while playing.

The updated reduced the cpu usage drastically, I've been on a dedi untill recently and didnt notice, but now I saw high usages on the recent build before this, this helped alot.
